My work examines how “writing” and “the body” overlap. I seek to answer questions like, “What do writers’ bodily understandings of writing look like?” “What can writers’ gestures tell us about their writing?” “How do writers’ bodily experiences of writing differ?” “How do collaborating writers use their bodies in face-to-face settings? How do distance technologies change these uses?” My hope is that by more thoroughly understanding the body, we can begin to more thoroughly understand the acts of writing which it accomplishes.
