Governance

Graduate students who are interested in governance organizations have an opportunity to be active at the College and University levels.

  • CLA departments often have their own student groups. Graduate students should contact their program if they are interested in finding a departmental group.
  • The CLA Office of Research and Graduate Programs convenes an Executive Committee made up of the leaders of departmental groups and graduate students twice a year for input and to address any concerns. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Executive Committee, contact clagrad@umn.edu
  • CLA graduate students serve on the CLA Assembly, the Curriculum, Instruction & Advising (CI&A) committee, and the Graduate Education Advisory Committee (GEAC). If you are interested in participating in a CLA governance organization, contact clagrad@umn.edu.
  • The University-wide Council of Graduate Students (COGS) is the Recognized Student Governance Association (RSGA) at the University of Minnesota that represents, advocates for, informs, facilitates communications among, and supports Twin cities graduate students (Ph.D. or Masters seeking students).
