Since its inception, the Center for Austrian Studies has organized events designed to attract an audience from the wider community outside the university. The Center for Austrian Studies reaches out to the larger Twin Cities community by creating events that appeal to a general audience. Concerts, film screenings, talks by scholars, and other events are held both on and off campus. One of the first events sponsored in 1977–78 included chamber musicians playing Austrian classical music. Throughout the years, the center has provided the community with a wide-ranging array of cultural events, lectures, symposia, and workshops—often in collaboration with other institutions.
