Learning Abroad

The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Religions and Cultures strongly encourages students in its programs to consider the value of studying abroad. Studying in the actual territories of ancient Mediterranean civilization gives students access to the ancient world in a way nothing else can, through firsthand experience of ancient monuments, topography, archaeological sites, and museums. Moreover, the study of classical languages and cultures developed and remains strong in Europe, where students have many opportunities for academic work.

Find general learning abroad information, including programs available, advising, financial aid and scholarships, policies and procedures, and application materials at the Learning Abroad Center. For advice specific to CNRC students, including a list of sample study abroad programs, see our department's study abroad with CNRC page.

Early planning and systematic consultation with advisors in the Learning Abroad Center and the department is key to assuring that you:

  • Find the right program for you
  • Meet application or scholarship deadlines
  • Apply to the appropriate courses taken abroad to your major/minor and/or Liberal Education requirements
