Yaxuan Zhang receives the John S. Adams Award

Yaxuan Zhang has been selected as the PhD student winner of the 2024 John S. Adams Award for Excellence in Transportation Research and Education from the Center for Transportation Studies. The award is named in honor of Professor Emeritus John S. Adams, a significant contributor to transportation-related research, education, and outreach activities and a long-time supporter of CTS.
 
Yaxuan Zhang’s dissertation, entitled “Using Smartphone-based Activity-Travel Surveys to Understand Individuals’ Space-Time Behaviors and Promote Equitable and Healthy Mobility”, is built upon several interdisciplinary collaborations among professionals from geography, urban planning, and public health. Her dissertation research leverages cutting-edge geospatial technologies and computational methods with classic transportation theories to provide novel insights into mobility behaviors and promote equity and health in transportation planning and practice.
