When staffing needs arise for language courses, the department hires Academic Professional (P&A) course instructors with the title of Teaching Specialist or Lecturer. Minimum qualifications for these P&A positions include an MA degree or foreign equivalent or ABD in the language to be taught or a related field, teaching experience, and native or near-native fluency in the language of instruction. A strong background in foreign-language education or second-language acquisition is preferred. Requirements will vary slightly depending on the position to be filled. We maintain a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis. Positions in German may be announced through the AATG and WiG listservs.
