Jean Merrill (she/her) is happy to serve as the undergraduate academic advisor for the Department of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies. Jean started as an academic advisor in the College of Liberal Arts in 2015. A Minnesota native, Jean earned her MA and PhD in English literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Prior to coming to the U, Jean was an English professor in small-town Iowa, where she discovered how much she enjoys building relationships with students and helping them navigate their undergraduate experiences. Like her predecessors in this role, Jean believes academic advising is an act of radical love. Jean loves reading, pop culture, dance music, cooking, travel, yoga, and fighting the power.
