= Any group of people and anywhere The people who died in the World Trade Center attack were all good people and went to Heaven. They died but did not suffer. They died because Jesus Christ called them to Heaven. They went to Paradise as proclaimed in the Holy Books. They are attended by many servants. They play harps. They are among the blessed. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack did not receive final rites. They will wander the world forever. They will wander until they are reborn. They are suffering without extreme unctions. Whether they are good or bad, they are suffering and suffering. They are in Purgatory. They are reborn as mendicants. They are hungry ghosts. They are red dust. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack were evil. They deserved to die. They were infidels. They were capitalists. They were unbelievers. They will go to Hell forever. They are permanently dead. They are reborn as vermin. They howl forever because of their terrible deeds. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack were neither good nor evil. They were like any of us. They died because they happened to be there. There is no god and there is no order in the world. They will not be reborn. They are gone forever. They are not in heaven or hell. They have no souls and nothing will remain of them. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack died because of the unborn which we are killing in unprecedented numbers. They died because of gay rights and feminists. They died because the liberals have let this country go too soft. They died because there are too many people here who aren't patriotic. They died because this country is Godless. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack were fated to die there. It was their destiny and has nothing to do with their ethics. They died because they had to die. Perhaps they are reborn and perhaps they are in heavens or hells. They died because it was their fate. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack died for something. They died for freedom or something else. They did not die in vain. They died for some future goal. They died for some future good. We do not know why they died. It is not for us to know. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack died for reasons known to God. God is good and powerful. God would never do wrong. We cannot question God or His ways. We cannot hope to understand Him. We can only hope to live within His Grace. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack just died. There is no reason for it. Reason has nothing to do with it. The people died because of history and politics. The people died because of a madman's psychosis. They died because of a clash of civilizations. They died because of paranoid behavior. The people who died in the World Trade Center attack died at the hands of a cult. They died because of one man. They died because of a conspiracy. They died because of rogue nations. They died because other people wanted to destroy the World Trade Center and everything it stoods for. They died because other people wanted us to suffer. They died because other people wanted them to suffer. There is no reason for anything. Causes are broken causes. At the limit of understanding, understanding disinvests. At the limit of understanding, the concept of understanding itself is annihilated. It is not incompre- hensible; it escapes comprehension. It is part of the substance of the world. We are all part of the world's substance and the word's substance. We cannot reside at the limit. We construct. Everyone has narratives which help them survive. The trajectory of the narrative has nothing to do with the inertness of the world. With the World Trade Center attack, we have come face to face with this inertness. It is as if inertness speaks. Its mouth is filled with dust. It is incomprehensible. Its mouth is filled with dust. === |

Please don't splatter me with the undulating lethal spitoons from your automatic dreadlocks... How much longer must we allow the odious horde to broadcast purple spray hair with the dirty blond tips, teen shooter manhunt? I'm sick of being tacitly reminded I should utter my dot-com abulations before crossing streets lined with vinyl-sided, facially pierced edificient structure, all the while aversioning psycho-janitorial liars who didn't apologize for ERADICATING the PAST!!!! Adolescent assailant still at large, and I'm s'posed to shit your sports bra, even though it was a government-sponsored mind-control operation web-hosted from the get go, set 'em on the Berserkowitzing juggernaut! Breaking news, heart-breaking news, all I wanna did were the RIGHT THINGS. Now I'm the big bad analog throwback evincing, oops, dirty BLOND hair with the PURPLE TIPS, still threatening, evoking in us all those values we don't really value... If you have any, please call. Not my fault, lividly dwell in a past before uniformed buildings, not a paint chip leadding chromosomes, cheese whiz dialectics, dude's hair the fry-brained Dennis the Hitlerjugend junior achiever and his venerable spigots of LUST!!!! DIDN'T HE TAKE HIS PAXIL? And faithful BOOM BOOM music lobotomizing the fuckshitpiss, inter alia, I'm disgusted, resorting to the side door of computer tattoo labs, the obligatory fake blond specious reasoning. This Karbunkled anachro time, CIA bacteriological attack gave me a Florida sized case of the parajeebies. What ever became of the back to the land horror friends, limping effectively minus souls, into the light of sterilized prison schools to teach wayward shooters of savage innocents? TURN OFF THAT NIGHMARE, I'm constructing one of my own, OFF KEYBOARD with the sloppy ambiguity of obsolesence, versus the greed venal warmth of Global Summer a torture for us all. A senseless paradigm with too few chuunks of spicy MEAT! SUSPECT STILL AT LARGE, Looks like BILL GATES, but HUMAN. I have definintely hijaked THIS chatroom! I Fortwith declare the bobby socked falsies, plasticized hair aflame with gender vengeance, always up in a bun, let it act against their megnoramus, patchouli-soaked point of success. Or was it post-silicone implant logic that did away with all ethics, dumbed her down to the diminishing returns on your cyberstocks? You tell me, faking it, lost six jobs in as many years, a dinosaur of doubting heaves. Problemistic beast of escaped hemoglobin, the aforementioned, dirty purple tips in reverse camos. Still seeking, the sordid trek of meglopathic force plods on and please remain hysteria in the face of the dull thud of more bad news. Now the camera gives a good aerial shot of... the pretext for massive government retribution against... YOU! YOU! Right there in the car park brimming de-angleized conveyance from the diametrically opposed to humanity concern. YES! I refer to the MASSIVE, ubiquitous NOW! Oh, now they maintain nobody was hurt. Well the troops will certainly satisfy cringing audience's blood thirst, CHANGE ALL THAT! They appear to be closing in on target at last. |

Headline in Sept 28 Badger Herald: "Islamic Car-Bomb Rocks Middle East Hopes For Peace..." Got me to thinking: "Imagine, a bomb... with a creed! How very remarkable!" Extending this, the American Mass Media's line of "reasoning," to other world events could yield several amazing phenomena, such as a "Jewish Bomb." You know, a device like the one that the original Israeli guerrillas employed in 1947 to destroy the King David Hotel. No doubt that was a bomb who possessed the curious attributes of studying Torah, answering a question with another, and gesticulating dramatically while engaged in heated debate with an adversary. Over 10,000 people, mostly of Arab extraction, were killed in Beirut in 1982 by these airborne representatives of Zionist vengeance... I envisioned a "Christian Bomb," too. This was a weapon like the one used in 1998 to destroy an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. He (the bomb) had the peculiar habit of vigorously attempting to obtain new converts for the faith while awaiting detonation. Indeed, various "Christian" bombs have been known to exhibit tendencies illustrative of their respective denominations. One that I talked to recently emphasized the concepts, vital to its Catholic heritage, of the Trinity and Original Sin. He was an explosive device who had worked his way up in the clerical hierarchy, and maintained a celibate lifestyle. Numerous "Christian Bombs" have been deployed in recent years, with profound results in places like Iraq and the former Yugoslavia. And now again in Afghanistan... Yes, it seems like the potential for creating pious, devout bombs is great indeed. What with all the flag-waving lately... |

Something spooks me and I turn my head behind me to see if you are there. But it's not you, neither is it an animal. The sun glares in my eyes causing the scenery of the road to portray itself in blips and sharp lines that cannot be described geographically. It's that place where I am, a low place, a point along the road in a dip, marked amongst a weeded frenzy, on a curve, blinded by my position, and tangled in my own roots. There's not a straight path around bends, our eyes never meet, for that matter I cannot see you anymore. A wild spray of pink flowers undresses nearby a white bird bath, I should have remained but I did not, I traveled farther and farther away from life's natural and soft graces. The complexities cannot be reflected upon because of the weight, the significance, the deficit. Around the curve I'll be able to see the road and land markings, accompanied by a distortion of optical unequalibrium, while the caramelizing of light changes all of the sky, trees, pastures, and myself into a little bit more of a blue funk. I may pass through this stage and return to prior lighting comprehension, but in a moment I come upon a shock, that the life which was before and that which is after may end at any time, in the meantime I haven't accounted for neither have I absorbed the rendering of new colors. A car in a blind spot was ready to pull out into a wall of the sun, where I would have died in the light. I passed without breaking, afterward gripping the gear shift as if I had control. You wouldn't know me anymore, I didn't increase in the way of my own, I took flight in the principal of where I was at, where I was, in retrospect from the day previous, when days became enmeshed in a slur of speech meant to conquer what was compiled from a different era, one of which I did not belong. All of my striving becomes one question, a question to myself and everyone, asking, are you there? The question remains inconclusive and repetitive of seeking confirmation. All of what's desired, communicated in search, touching the mirror and wanting to feel a meeting of finger-tips from the other-side, believing that what's human is shared, believing there are others on the other side of the mirror. Particle deference. Animated defiance, changing of voice, clerical errors. The mirror only holds images because everything hasn't cracked up yet into itsy bitsy dusty principalities of invisible glowing dust mites. The genre of bugs. You can't critique this writing, I don't want critique, composition is useless of representing the less through the more. It becomes more simple, degenerated, humiliated, formalized of a piss-poor after the fact, trying to gather up the remainder of what now may be clicked on as roll-over imaging. I've done well enough to be on the under-side of things, with the increased potential of a flip-over. I heard laughing today that I don't want to be a part of. I thought of history, of political behavior, of how we must like it this way. The colloquial, the witticisms, the next generated spawning of little fishes swimming around in a superficial and falsified depth of liberated individualism. Without love there is no liberation and individualism will become a plotted course as best sought to soothe the desires of obtaining a communal security in the eyes of the one in which the position is held, in levy, giving and taking only in proportion to that which keeps proper balance. Real weights and measures take place without us, in an offset of high proportions, a stow away book in the red, accounts long overdue, becoming more unforgiving, bleeding up through the veneer in dewed condensation forming a misty covering atop high-gloss shellac. Shellac, Salaam, say your prayers. The power plant is at its most underestimated pinnacle of in house energy exchange and failure because of maxed out interchange and piggy-backing. Central intelligence has become multi-faceted, fathomlessly diverse, and unable to centralize the direction of its efforts. Fear is able to take on metal armor in the under-skirting. It is pantomimic belief and cannot be fought against with synthesized aphoristic proclamations. Holding a quotient value, we must needs dig deeper and unsheathe the sword. It's silver, shiny, and double edged. Extremely heavy, and brilliant. |

The World Trade Tower of Babel from the David Rosenberg-Harold Bloom translation, in "The Book of J" Now listen: all the earth uses one tongue, one and the same words. (English) Watch: they journey from the east, and arrive at a valley in the land of Sumer, settle there. ("Sumer" = America) "We can bring ourselves together," they said,"like stone on stone, use brick for stone: bake it until hard." For mortar they heated bitumen. (Concrete is today's version of stone, brick & mortar.) "If we bring ourselves together," they said, "we can build a city and tower, its top touching the sky--to arrive at fame. Without a name we're unbounded, scattered over the face of the earth." (arriving at fame, achieving a name--that's NY for you. "If you can/make it there/you'll make it/anywhere"...also, the US is where unbounded nameless teeming hordes & huddled masses have brought themselves together, created a world language, and built "a city and tower, its top touching the sky") Yahweh came down to watch the city and tower the sons of man were bound to build. "They are one people, with the same tongue," said Yahweh. "They conceive this between them, and it leads up until no boundary exists to what they will touch. Between us, let's descend, baffle their tongue until each is scatterbrain to his friend." From there Yahweh scattered them over the whole face of earth; the city there came unbound. That is why they named the place Bavel: Their tongues were baffled there by Yahweh. Scattered from there, they arrived at the ends of the earth. (A prophecy of the end of the American empire and its wannabe-global-language, English, with its symbolic-mathematical sublanguage, global capitalism. It looks more and more likely that the US will have serious problems maintaining its imperial concessions in the two great global founts of future petroleum, Central Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. The harder it fights the natives to keep these holdings, the more likely the whole American project will go down in flames.) scriptural interpretation brought to you by Sheikh Yerbouti, Palaverous Poobah and Most Magniloquent Mufti Islamic Peace Jihad |

What a week for controversy. While US war planes bomb Red Cross food storage areas, and kill men employed doing mine-clearing over there in Afghanistan, we here in Madison are being worked over by the goose-stepping antics of the "my-country-right-or-wrong" crowd. Subjected to this squalid, diversionary, flag issue. Again. Thanks a lot, Wisconsin State Legislature. The Madison Metropolitan School Board bans the Pledge of Allegiance. Must be Armageddon itself. Hardly! So it turns out there are those of us in the United States who have the nerve to try to keep our society a secular one. I am proud to advocate a secular society here, as opposed to the kind of thinly-veiled state religion so many supposed patriots clamor for now. I just wish that some of these people who are so blasted "patriotic" would recognize the harm they perpetrate, the un-american activity they engage in when they subvert the US Constitution! To the flag fanatics, I would simply say: I know a piece of paper much more valuable than your "precious" piece of cloth. The Bill of Rights! The First Amendment is very clear when it states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercize thereof..." So very sorry, but I have news for you: the Board was right! Forcing your contrived, obsolete, brain dead loyalty oath down the throats of impressionable young kids, and wrapping up the whole sordid ritual with: "one nation under god..." is not only distasteful, it is most certainly unconstitutional. That is why I steadfastly refused to say it throughout all my school years. Let us be honest: the pledge implicitly establishes a religion, i.e., christianity; that is a faith that many students don't abide by, and indeed, shouldn't be compelled to. Some day we as a people will realize that good citizenship is best achieved in a voluntary fashion, and that the sort of compulsion represented by this loathesome pledge endangers rather than enhances democracy. |

bible bits eden fall coming. bird window noise a word not altogether shuttered. outlaw vowel sliding toward consonance like the first naming grey clock. the no time is up. no more free stuff. aaaaaaag!! adam, time to pack and get down. fall coming that stupid bird doing a window sill dance. he spins on his toes. fall coming. he wants to come in screw the little bastard paradise lost garden, this place of mendicancy and retreat. what is it we spend in the grass? not much, I’d say. just a constant claret and our words taking their positions in the air. a beginning too quick to lock horns with glances off the cupola, threading its way back along bloodlines of how we felt another time, crooked toothed and thirsty so this was then--life took hold of us, insisting on the precise letter of debt, the articulated, repeated pattern. we wanted something not aluminum siding, friends stumbled out and in, I composed secret filthy notes, the plants thrived today we say nothing but continue to say it like an orchestration of testy bees. desire became merely interesting, getting near the power of it, the sudden shelling of the house by an obscure yard lamp, blue. like nothing we’d ever seen this season of reticence and regret surfacing on the plums as a debased, unnatural red, lingering like wood smoke on the lawns eve, where have we gone except into one another? the day presses back on us our ruins, bamboo strokes the fading light as darkness comes on, but not like it’s important, or overwhelming-- just there to cover our faces now breaking off like ashes from a forgotten cigarette. this wine for our dry conversation means one of us is bleeding for the other one cain crown heights. blood feud of ruined kings black and white. pink stains shade the pavement I keep records of the murder, a wine birthmark-- tattoo from the hospital parlor. I collect old newspapers slid into body bags to preserve their yellow skins because we can’t live in the past scene of the crime, crown heights. highness, where were we? these days it’s all gangbanging, mano a mano. we flash our colors, rule the streets. brother against brother a savage cry unto hollow skies. we have only our botched innocence to love us flood story she loads them two at a time. ballplayers, waiters, the boss and night watchman OOOH! AAAH! OOOH! AAAH no, ah, dry land. she’s always wet sinner. love slave. the guys on deck call her dreamboat eve felt the snake between her legs and swallowed. so the story begins the planet belly-huge. mostly water the desert tumbleweed gathering what today has abandoned, migrating to the next depleted space thirsty for meaning. out there the usual untenanted shack devises a plan, one read by the vacant eyes of prairie dogs as they scavenge their unflinching present moment, fettered to what is merely a crease in our time our arrival, however, releases the avatar prowling the fringes of their pure attention. not altogether a new animal on the scene, rather an incarceration of what is under the nose to assume our nature, the suburban inclination to create objects for our desires, to see ghosts in the desert air * * * feathered stucco huts unfold from the brick church and jailhouse, acres of rock, gravel, thirsty grain. a lizard bakes half way out of the sand crouched in front of the canteen my gia pops the lids on two warm beers. he smokes three packs a day, limps through dry clouds like the moon “you can buy puta here,” he tells me. I go slowly inside, leaving him coughing and spitting under the yellow porch light. upstairs is what passes for pleasure-- tequila, shriveled lemons, women swollen from pus and hunger this land produces a snubbed, colorless grain-- hungry stoic women with wailing babies, men without sandals roaming the scorched hills and flatlands-- the sun strangles everything, there is no wind. I cannot remove my shirt without tearing skin. an old gringo parched by death is buried in his clothes. by noon all shade evaporates, survivors flow into their sombreros * * * what night implies form above the emptiest empty field the weightless, leafy deadfall of batwing sensed in the yellow grass, moth yielding to fang that cleaves the darkness, reclaiming its little white life what night is carried forward a rush to the open window, to a sudden rustling of curtains, the wind a vowel struggling toward consonance, the anticipation that is the word that is the extended wing of shadow this much is given, the field and terror pronounced and the merest implication of the creature descending new testament come down, dr. poet --adam child-- and bring your bible of voices so many ways to cry out, like that screwball bird tearing every vowel, drilling a hole through language * * * it doesn’t wash, the rain soaked berry bush, the promising grey day wasted in last night’s puddles, purposes. who speaks for our nation of one? now that we have filled ambition’s tree with feathery words. like fliers who miss the ride south we return penitent, wings clipped, our breakfast eggs chortling on the stove so what? there are still territories to flag down as we skip like stones over the whitecap between here and god’s undertow. come in from the cold. certain levers applied to floorboards of old houses, the concurrent steaming of windows, these remain our duty and quick bread-- words who break from the flock we’re stuck with the rules but it’s a whole new ballgame. rainstorms split the leaf vein, bird shit clings to vacant school yards. may you read yourself to yourself? only your eyes have flipped over so walking forward looks backward because the new landscape is a memory of that lost world. it’s difficult now to cry in unison though not to one another, and isn’t that the resurrection we prayed for * * * grey clock. hard clouds. punk bird still on the window ledge. looks hungry, weak, wing torn his ascension a misstep fall coming |

A photograph by Nicholas Nixon entitled "Joel Geiger, Perkins School for the Blind." A small boy, eyes closed reaching across his chest, his hand touching the hand of his teacher. Let us reach across our chests, trust that a large hand is there though we can't see it |
