The Clarinet Academy is a five-day (July 5–9, 2016) clarinet workshop with performances and courses including practice techniques, audition and competition preparation, and Introduction to Klezmer. This workshop is open to high school and college students, as well as amateurs. Space is limited. Topics that are covered include:

  • solo and chamber music repertoire 
  • audition and competition preparation
  • practice techniques
  • orchestra excerpts 
  • developing stage presence 
  • introduction to Klezmer clarinet 
  • career guidance 
  • clarinet ensemble

Application, Cost & Housing

  • $425 for students who do not require dorm housing
  • $575 for students who are staying in a dorm room on the U of M campus
  • $150 for students interested in auditing Clarinet Academy (fee covers entire workshop)


There is no meal plan for the week. There are several excellent restaurants and cafés within walking distance of the School of Music.
