Undergraduate Research Opportunities

The University of Minnesota is a top research institution with an international reputation. Opportunities for students to engage in research and creative activities are endless.

The Dean's Freshman Research and Creative Scholars program gives first-year students a vibrant and relevant research experience on a faculty project during their first year in the college. It is the first program of its kind among Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) institutions.

Through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), students in their second, third, or fourth years receive funding to conduct a research or creative project with a faculty mentor.

Research conducted here solves the grand challenges that touch our lives every day. Why do we behave as we do? How do we apply discoveries in science and medicine to improve lives? What makes life worth living? How do we make our communities more vibrant and healthy?
