How to Apply
December 15, 2023 for fall 2024.
In order to apply to the PhD program, you must submit an application to the Graduate School through the online application. See the "instructions for application" below on what you need to submit.
The deadline to submit all of your application materials is December 15. Any materials received after the deadline may not be in your file in time for departmental review.drasi001@umn.edu

All students admitted to the graduate program are guaranteed five years of financial support. When you submit an application for admission you will also be considered for departmental funding.
The Department of Sociology has limited funds to pay the application fee for students who lack resources and are from underrepresented populations. If you feel that you meet these criteria please contact Becky Drasin at drasi001@umn.edu to obtain the form Request for an Application Fee Grant. Requests are due by December 1.
Please note that although the Graduate School application gives you several options for degree objective and admission term, the sociology department admits to the PhD program for the fall semester only.
