11 am Ceremony - Important Final Details

Where do I go?

Graduate check-in is at the Sports Pavilion beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 14. Graduates must be checked in by 10:15 a.m. Graduates need to use the West Pavilion main doors to enter the building.

Commencement staff will be on hand to check you in and line you up for the procession. If you wish to sit by a particular person during the ceremony, you will need to line up in front of or behind that person for the procession. Leave your valuables and coats with family and friends; you will not have a secure location to keep them during the ceremony.

The ceremony is expected to last approximately two hours. The student and faculty procession into the auditorium will begin at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m.

All degree candidates cross the stage as their names are called. A reminder that your tassel starts on the right side of your cap. At the end of the ceremony you will be instructed to move it to the left side. You will receive a diploma cover on the stage and will shake hands with the dean. If you do not wish to shake hands, please place your right hand near your left shoulder.

Note: Caps and gowns are NOT available at the Sports Pavilion. They may be purchased in advance at the Bookstore.

What do my guests need to know?

The entrance to Mariucci Arena for all guests is located at the front of the building at the East Main Lobby located at 4 Oak Street S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55455. Doors will open for guest seating at 10:00 a.m. Please note, and remind your guests, seating is general admission and seating is first come, first served.

Also, please note that the ceremony will be available for viewing online (live stream) at this link for your family and friends who are not able to be at the ceremony. A link to the video of the ceremony will be posted to the CLA Commencement website the week of May 22.

Will pictures be available?
