Brittany Knutson is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She is housed in the Department of Communication Studies where she studies the rhetoric of victim testimony in cases of sexual and gender-based violence. She approaches her research through the theoretical affordances of feminist new materialism, affect and emotion theory, and public address. Specifically, her work asks, “how material-discursive forces impact public testimony” in order constrain and enable particular rhetorical possibilities and circulate violence amongst those implicated in victim testimony.
