Jan P Scholl
Jan Possehl Scholl has been teaching and playing in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area since 1998. Prior to coming to Minnesota, she was a 22-year member of The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, DC, often performing as a soloist and chamber musician with that organization as well as in the civilian musical world. She recently retired from 19 years of teaching instrumental music, grades 5-12, in Minnesota public schools. She has held clarinet instructor positions at Concordia University-St. Paul and the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, the latter a position she currently holds. She remains an active player and teacher in the Twin Cities where she is principal clarinet with Encore Winds, plays frequently with Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Rochester Symphony Orchestra as well as other musical groups and events. She holds a bachelor of music degree from Concordia College and a master of music degree in clarinet performance from The Catholic University of America. Her primary teachers have been Leon Russianoff, David Townsend, Roy Johnson, Burt Hara, Robert Genovese, and William Wright.
