Evan M Stewart

Evan's research focuses on political culture, especially the way shared beliefs about community and authority shape the way people engage in public life, develop their political views, and express their identities. His dissertation work, funded by UMN's Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellowship and Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship programs, focuses on the political impact of the growing non-religious population in the United States. Evan is also the current editor at Sociological Images. He has served for a number of years as a graduate editor at The Society Pages, where he piloted "There's Research on That!" and "Social Studies Minnesota."
