Collegiate Affiliation

Christine M. Swartwout has served as the Production Stage Manager for the Department of Theatre Arts & Dance at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities since August of 2008.  Christine has a M.A. in Theatre from Binghamton University, a B.A. in Technical Theatre with an emphasis is Stage Management from SUNY New Paltz. As the Production Stage Manager at the U of M, Christine teaches and mentors the undergraduates stage managers on the main stage, studio productions, and at the Dowling Studio of the Guthrie Theater. Prior to coming to the University of Minnesota, Christine was a freelance AEA Stage Manager as well as an adjunct lecturer at Binghamton University and SUNY Oneonta. Before becoming a teacher Christine was the Resident Stage Manager for Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY, selected credits include: La Traviata, La BohèmeRoméo et Julietteand La fille du regiment.  The Resident Stage Manager for The Cider Mill Playhouse in Endicott, NY, selected credits include: Art, Dancing at Lughnasa, Proof, A Flea in her Ear, The Mousetrap, The Wizard of Oz, and 1776.  Before settling down in upstate New York, Christine traveled the United States freelancing at a variety of Shakespeare Festivals and other theatre companies and was the Production Stage Manager on 15 national tours taking her to all the 48 contiguous states, through many Provinces of Canada, and she also had the great privilege of taking a tour to Alaska.
