CLA students are able to participate in any number of credit-granting programs. Not only does the University of Minnesota Learning Abroad Center host programs in locations such as London, Florence, Dublin, Copenhagen, Thailand, Ecuador, and Senegal, but the College of Liberal Arts has worked to develop a number of customized, CLA-run programs, led by CLA faculty. For 2019 they include:
- Art, Memory, and Post-Holocaust Berlin
- Performing Arts in Japan
- Creative Writing in Spain
- Urban Transformations in Italy
- Understanding New Zealand
- London, Trade, and Brexit
- Australian Identity: Convicts, Crocodiles, and Contrasts
- Modernism in Mexico
- Hmong Language and Cultural Immersion in Thailand
The University is also happy to offer the International Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (I-UROP). The Scholarship program is designed to promote learning abroad opportunities to CLA and UMTC undergraduates by providing critical funding to students enrolled in select credit-bearing learning abroad programs involving a research project.
With all these convenient options, it’s no wonder that approximately one third of all CLA students study abroad!
