Nominate a CLA Alum
The CLA Alumni of Notable Achievement Award and CLA Emerging Alumni Award honor graduates of the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts who demonstrate leadership, creative excellence, community-mindedness, and who mirror the community at large.
Who can submit a nomination for the award?
Members of the public, faculty, staff, friends, and students may submit nomination materials on behalf of a nominee. Self-nominations are also invited.
Who is eligible to be nominated?
- Nominees must be alumni of the College of LIberal Arts, University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.
- For the CLA Alumni of Notable Achievement Award, nominees must have graduated 11 or more years ago.
- For the CLA Emerging Alumni Award, nominees must have graduated within the past 10 years.
What is the timeline?
Each year the nomination deadline is the day after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. (Note that this year the deadline has been extended to February 14, 2018.)
How are the award-winners chosen?
Staff, faculty, and members of the CLA Alumni Society Board and CLA Student Board collaborate to select honorees.
How are the awards given?
Honorees are informed of their nominations and selections by the College of Liberal Arts and their acceptance of the awards is then confirmed. After all award honorees are confirmed, nominators are informed of their candidates' status.
A recognition event honoring honorees of both awards will take place in June each year. The award will also be publicized through numerous CLA communication channels.
