Tiya Miles (PhD '00, American studies) has earned a place among the nation’s most respected and esteemed historians and is dedicated to revealing, honoring, and preserving stories of Black and Indigenous people who endured and lived with grit and tenacity. Her acclaimed work illuminates how it is essential for us to acquire a deeper, accurate understanding of our culture in order to move toward an inclusive, just society.
