Interpretation of Non-Native Speakers in Police Encounters

Norma Mendoza-Denton, a professor of anthropology at UCLA, will speak on multi-lingual encounters in police situations. Professor Mendoza is a specialist in North American Spanish discourse and is the author of "Homegirls" Language and Cultural Practice Among Latina Youth Gangs.

The talk will be held in Room 115 Blegen Hall on Monday, April 10 at 4 PM - 7 PM on the University of Minnesota West Bank Campus.
