MILWAUKEE ART MUSEUM NAMES NIKKI OTTEN ASSOCIATE CURATOR OF PRINTS AND DRAWINGS

The Milwaukee Art Museum in Wisconsin announced that Nikki Otten has joined its curatorial team as associate curator of prints and drawings. The institution was able to create the new position through a gift from patrons James and Susee Wiechmann. The collectors revealed that they would underwrite the post last year, after they donated more than five hundred works by the French graphic artist Jules Chéret to the museum.

Otten comes to the institution from the Weisman Art Museum in Minnesota, where she served as a curatorial fellow. During her tenure, she curated the exhibition “Paper Mountains: Marsden Hartley’s Landscapes,” which is slated to open in 2020. Previously, Otten had served as a part-time research assistant in the museum’s department of prints and drawings.

“Nikki’s particular expertise aligns nicely with areas of strength in our collection,” said Margaret Andera, interim chief curator and curator of contemporary art. “Her familiarity with the museum, due to her previous experience here, has allowed her to quickly get involved in a number of projects.”
