Appreciation of MFA Graduate Caroline Kent’s Work Grows with Concurrent Shows
“Invaluable.” States Caroline Kent, Artist and UMN Department of Art MFA Graduate
“The UMN MFA Program gave me three years to thoroughly experiment, take risks and dive deep into ideas surrounding my practice. Because I was at a university, I was able to take courses in other departments as well, which was invaluable. I supplemented my art making with foreign language courses and studies on WWII—really fascinating.”
Caroline’s passion for art making, language and history continues today and is on full display at concurrent exhibitions:
- A Form Walks Toward You In The Dark, The College of New Jersey in Ewing NJ (solo show)
- Writing Forms, Hawthorn Contemporary, Milwaukee, WI (solo show)
- Duro Olowu: Seeing Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago, Illinois (group show)
- Five Ways In: Themes from The Collection, Walker Art Center (group show)
In Fall 2020, Caroline will have her first solo exhibition in Los Angeles at the renowned Kohn Gallery.
The UMN Department of Art Faculty are so proud of Caroline’s success! When asked what advice she has for prospective MFA students, Caroline says, “Take a lot of risk! Conceptually and formally!”
