The Center for Austrian Studies was in excellent company as co-sponsor of the first Central European History Convention, held at the University of Vienna in July 2025.

With over 470 applications from presenters, the conference was a tremendous success, thanks in part to the conference's executive committee as well as its main organizer, the Institute for Austrian Historical Research (Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung) at the University of Vienna.

In addition to the Center's co-sponsorship, which financially supported conference overhead costs, Professor Howard Louthan (Department of History; former Center for Austrian Studies Director) served on the Program Committee. Austrian History Yearbook editors Maureen Healy and Robert Nemes also presented at the conference, briefly appearing in a segment on the ORF that provided news coverage of the conference.
