Summer 2026 Graduate Funding Available from the Center for Austrian Studies

The deadline to apply is March 8th, 2026

Ph.D. students in the College of Liberal Arts can now apply for 2026 summer graduate funding from the Center for Austrian Studies, which provides crucial support for research projects related to Austria and other countries in Central and Eastern Europe with ties to the former Habsburg Empire. 

The two available sources of funding for summer 2026: 

1. The CAS Graduate Research Fellowship provides financial support to currently enrolled University of Minnesota PhD students to further their progress towards degree completion. The Center will award one (1) Graduate Research Fellowship in the amount of $6,000, for use in Summer 2026. Please see the CAS Summer Graduate Research Fellowship 2026 Call for Applications for further information. 

2. The Voices of Vienna Scholarship awarded by the Center for Austrian Studies to a graduate student at the University of Minnesota in the social sciences or humanities, who proposes to conduct research in Austria or another country in Central Europe with ties to the former Habsburg Empire. The Center will award one (1) Voices of Vienna scholarship in the amount of $5,000 for use in Summer 2026.

NOTE: This information pertains to the Voices of Vienna Scholarship awarded in 2026 by the Center for Austrian Studies, which administers the scholarship in even-numbered years only to social sciences and humanities students. Please contact the School of Music Graduate Office if applying for the scholarship in odd-numbered years.
