CAS Exclusive: Interview with Charles Ingrao, professor emeritus at Purdue University

Habsburg geopolitics, experiments in democratization, and the historical precedence of our current health crisis

Charles Ingrao is professor emeritus at Purdue University, a prodigious historian of Habsburg central Europe, and an advocate for active resolution in the countries of former Yugoslavia. He joins History PhD graduate student James Gresock to discuss the newly published third edition of his book, The Habsburg Monarchy: 1618-1815. The talk ranges from Habsburg geopolitics and experiments in democratization all the way to our current health crisis and its Habsburg historical precedence.

The interview is posted to the CAS YouTube Channel, and you may also wish to read our reprint of Ingrao's co-authored award-winning article, "Emperor Joseph's Solution to Coronavirus" (originally published in the Wall Street Journal).
