In my internship with AARP, I have learned a lot about the fields of communications and digital media. There are two main areas that I get to work in, content and design. For content, I drive attendance to our events and online resources and engage members online by writing compelling copy for blog posts and social media, as well as draft press releases. I also track earned media in a database when publications mention us.  For design, I create flyers and any other marketing materials for events or campaigns.

I found my internship by checking the UMN Communication Studies Association facebook page! I saw the post, applied and got an email from the employer for a phone interview a few weeks later, then an in-person interview. That went really well and I got an offer, then accepted it!
