Announcing CHGS' Bdote Tour at Fort Snelling State Park

Guided tour of the Dakota site at Fort Snelling where many Dakota were imprisoned and died
February 16, 2017

Join us this spring for a special guided tour of the Bdote site at Fort Snelling State Park, location of Dakota creation stories and the site of mass imprisonment of the Dakota people before their forced removal from the state in 1862.

St. Cloud State University professor Iyekiyapiwiƞ Darlene St. Clair will lead our group on the site, delivering a talk along the way and creating an experience that we can all relate to.

Iyekiyapiwiƞ says about this tour: "We are living, learning, and working in a particular place with a long, fascinating, troubling, and frequently unknown story. One goal for this tour is that participants begin to experience the place we live in as Mnisota Makoce, the Dakota Homelands. We will be visiting a Dakota sacred site located in an area that would later be called the Twin Cities."

Registration is required.
