Every Friday: Chinese Conversation Corner at Bordertown Coffee (315 16th Ave SE). Are you looking to challenge your knowledge of Mandarin or simply practice speaking? Friday May 3: Chinese Movie Night 5:30pm Folwell 31, featuring "Our Shining Days" (闪光少女, dir. Wang Ran, 2017). Join us after class to relax, enjoy this film, and learn about Chinese language and culture through cinema. A group of high school students attempt to revive the traditional Chinese orchestra, but it falls on deaf ears with the administration and the snooty violists, harpists, and pianists of the Classical orchestra. Refreshments provided. Thursday March 28: Chinese Board Game Night 5:30pm-7:30pm Folwell 420. Try your hand at Go, Mahjong, Chinese Chess, Werewolves Cards plus virtual games PUBG and Battle of Arena. Friday February 8:  Chinese Movie Night 5:30pm Folwell 31, featuring "Detective Chinatown" (唐人街探案, dir. Chen Sicheng, 2015). Join us after class to relax, enjoy this film, and learn about Chinese language and culture through cinema. This comedy mystery follows the bumbling detective Tang Ren and his nephew Qing Feng as the two rush to solve a murder and clear Tang Ren's name. Refreshments provided. Contact ytu@umn.edu.
