Mai Yang is interning with the Department of Communication Studies for the summer and will be a freshman at the U starting this fall.
July 17, 2017

Mai Yang is our summer Step-Up Intern. Mai was born in St. Paul, but her parents are originally from Thailand. She graduated from South High School in Minneapolis where she participated in many extracurricular activities. She took part in National Honor Society, Student Council, Asian Student Association Club, Link Club, Badminton, and was a Student Ambassador. Notably, her badminton team was second in conference. This summer Mai has been working on summer projects for the Department of Communication Studies, while interacting with coworkers. One highlight of interning is that she is getting to know the U campus before she starts school here. In the fall, Mai will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Becoming a K-6 teacher sparked her interest while volunteering at Hiawatha Community School. She is looking forward to one day positively impacting her students. In her spare time, Mai enjoys walking along the Mississippi River with friends or spending time reading a fantasy, adventure, or mystery novel. We are so happy to have Mai in our department for the summer!
