“A Circulation of Iatrochemistry from Renaissance Italy to the Ottoman Provincial World in the Age of Noblewomen as Healers”
Early modern painting
Event Date & Time

This presentation explores the story of the iatrochemist daughter of a provincial ruling family, the House of Ma'n of Lebanon, within the context of the circulation of iatrochemistry through the intermediaries of various pious royal women between the East and the West in the age of noblewomen as healers. The story of the iatrochemist daughter of House of Ma'n contributes to exploring the roles played by various ethnic and religious groups such as Druze, Maronites, Kurds, Jews, Arabs, Latins, and Sufis in the circulation of Iatrochemistry from Renaissance Italy to Ottoman Syria and Kurdistan.
