October 9, 2017

Congratulations to Regents Professor Patricia Hampl, who along with John Gordon has won the Milkweed Award for Distinguished Contributions to Literary Culture. The award is presented each year at the Book Lovers Ball, the annual community building fundraiser in support of Milkweed Editions. The Milkweed announcement describes Professor Hampl as "nationally recognized as a pioneer of the memoir and one of the finest stylists writing today." She is the author of five memoirs, including The Florist's Daughter, winner of a Minnesota Book Award, and the celebrated classic, A Romantic Education. Her next book, The Art of the Wasted Day (Viking Penguin), is forthcoming in 2018.
