Opening for Assistant Professor

English seeks a scholar of African-American and/or Native American literatures and cultures

The Department of English at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for an assistant professorship: tenure-track, 2/2 course load, beginning fall semester 2020.

Required qualifications: (1) PhD or equivalent degree in English or related field, with degree in hand by August 31, 2020; (2) evidence of primary expertise and high-quality work in US literatures and cultures, mid-20th century to present and/or multi-temporal/nonchronological temporalities; (3) evidence of primary expertise and high-quality work in African-American and/or Native-American literatures and cultures; (4) undergraduate teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications: (1) demonstrated potential for continued success as a scholar; (2) demonstrated potential for continued success as a teacher; (3) demonstrated commitment to and experience in creating a diverse and inclusive atmosphere for research and teaching.

The University expects faculty members to maintain an active program of scholarly research and publication, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, and contribute service to the department, college, university, and profession.
