Chicana/o Remix: Art and Errata Since The Sixties
A panel will discuss Chicana/o Remix: Art and Errata Since the Sixties (NYU Press 2017), the latest book by Karen Mary Davalos, professor of Chicano and Latino Studies. Sandra de la Loza, whose art inspired the framework of “remixing,” will discuss Mural Remix (2011) and other installations and public practices, and Linda Vallejo, whose international travels influenced her “Chicana-indígena” artistic expressions, will comment on her path to the current series, The Brown Dot Project. Professor Laura E. Perez (University of California, Berkeley) will offer her assessment of the book and the field of Chicana/o art history. Free!
