Visit The Arc Minnesota
Transportation provided from the East Bank Campus.
The Arc Minnesota is a grassroots advocacy organization formed in 1946 by concerned parents and educators who wanted to create options outside of institutionalization for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc Minnesota, serving the majority of Minnesota, is the only grassroots membership organization providing an array of services across the lifespan.
During this visit, you will learn what The Arc does and how our thrift stores assist in meeting the organization’s mission of advancing the civil rights of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will have a chance to meet with staff from both the retail and headquarters functions of the organization, attend a presentation on what we do, tour our retail facility, and participate in a business activity. Through all of these opportunities, you will learn how seemingly unconnected organizations can actually work together for a common goal, and how a liberal arts education ties to multiple career paths within The Arc and other professions.
This event is a good fit for students with interests in human services, non-profit management, retail management, merchandising, and entrepreneurship.
