We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our colleague and friend, Jennifer Peterson, on August 26, 2025. She was a fun-loving, spirited, warmhearted colleague and friend.

Jennifer began teaching in the department in 1999 and, until her retirement this past May, was a cornerstone of our German language program. She taught all levels of German and for many years served as the first-year German language coordinator.

Jennifer was a beloved language teacher, extraordinarily dedicated to her students and to creating an immersive learning environment that was not only rigorous but also deeply nurturing. Her teaching style recognized the worth of every individual student, encouraging them to learn at their own pace and fostering a classroom where everyone felt a sense of belonging.

Jennifer will be remembered for her positivity and her profound care for students and colleagues alike. She made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many, creating a sense of community that her students will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Her presence and her passion will be greatly missed.
