German College in the Schools student wins place in the International German Olympics
Ryan Dolan, a student at New Prague high school (one of our College in the Schools (CiS) partners), is one of two students from the United States chosen to participate in the Goethe Institut's International German Olympiad (IDO – Internationale Deutscholympiade) in Freiburg in summer 2018. College in the Schools is a concurrent enrollment program which allows high school students to take U of MN courses in their high schools. Twenty-four high schools throughout Minnesota participate in CIS German and students can earn U of MN credit for German 1003 and 1004.
The International German Olympiad competition is an "Olympic pentathlon" that tests the students’ reading, listening, speaking, writing and presenting skills. Of the more than 200 students who entered, 14 made it to the second round in Chicago.
Congratulations to Ryan and to his teacher, Brittany Elsen, who is a former CIS student!
