Please join us next Friday, October 4th, for a discussion with Tasneem Amro, a Palestinian filmmaker and journalist from the West Bank in Palestine. Ms. Amro will join us virtually, after the Screening of the Aljazeera documentary "October 7". The discussion will focus on gendered representations of the genocide in Gaza, media propaganda, and the treatment of journalists in Gaza and the West Bank.
Tasneem Amro is a journalist, filmmaker, mentor, and media trainer, known for her work as a news correspondent in the West Bank. She has a Master's degree in European Studies From Heinrich Heine University-Germany, and was the recipient of the 2021/2022 Humphrey Fellowship at Arizona State University. Tasneem covered news and featured stories from 2002-2008, including the 2nd intifada, the first Palestinian legislative election in 2006, and the Israeli invasion of the West Bank. She has participated in multiple traineeship programs such as Aljazeera, UNESCO, BBC, DW, and human rights organizations. Tasneem's media vision is to enhance and support the MENA region & Palestinian journalists, especially women, by creating efficient media tools for practicing leadership.
