Connections. Public TV and radio, major dailies, and weeklies offer internship and career opportunities for journalism students. Organizations such as FOX Sports, Target, General Mills, and other local and national agencies and firms offer high-potential opportunities for students of strategic communication. Silha Center. Our internationally recognized Silha Center for the Study of Media Ethics and Law is one of the top media law centers in the nation. The center is a special asset for students in the dual-degree program (JD plus an MA or PhD in mass communication) with the Law School.
Educational events. The Minnesota Journalism Center is a vital resource and venue for conferences, workshops, research partnerships and events for the academic and professional communities.
Groundbreaking programs. In collaboration with the School of Public Health and health industry professionals, we’ve developed an innovative five-year BA/MA program in strategic health communication (the first of its kind in the nation), serving the growing number of students with an interest in health-related careers. We are expanding our collaborations with the College of Design, especially in areas related to data visualization, mobile application design, and media design.
