Strategic Communication Careers

The careers profiled here are not an exhaustive list, but these interviews can provide you with a good cross-section of the types of jobs and places of employment that are open to graduates of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Careers in strategic communication include advertising; public relations; and corporate, non-profit, and advocacy communications.

The Explore Careers project was made possible with the support from the Course Transformation Project (CTP), which provides resources and support to help integrate technology into the classroom and provide technology resources for students. We thank all of the professionals who took part in the project for their time and talents.

The project was led by Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) current and former faculty members Kathleen Hansen, Seth Lewis, Nora Paul, Amy Sanders and Jennifer Williams, all of whom teach/taught sections of JOUR 1001, Introduction to Mass Communication.

A significant proportion of the work was conducted by former SJMC Communications Manager Sarah Howard and SJMC Events Coordinator Sue Couling. Video editing services were provided by Alexa Hunt. CLA-OIT staff members Celina Byers and Karen Swoverland provided technical and logistical support.
