Book Talk: Women's Rights in Armed Conflict under International Law, with Catherine O'Rourke

Catherine O'Rourke Discusses Her New Book
Event Date & Time

Join us at 12 PM on November 18th for a presentation commemorating the launch of Catherine O'Rourke's (Ulster University, 2016 Fulbright Scholar at UMN) latest book, Women's Rights in Armed Conflict under International Law. In her book, O'Rourke uses country case studies to reveal the ways in which different regimes regulate women's rights in conflict and the practical implications of the fragmented protections of women's rights. This book thus sheds light on the ways in which regimes and institutions interact, the extent to which they reinforce one another, and the tensions and gaps in regulation that emerge from these differential practices. The insight provided in this book is unique in its ability to account for issues of pluralism and institutional diversity that influence the definition and regulation of the rights of women living in conflict.
