We Had to Run: Liberian Journeys from War to Belonging

Join Master of Human Rights student Darlington Seghbean (MHR '27) for a discussion about his new book. We Had to Run tells the story of the shared immigrant experience of living in the United States under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and other temporary statuses, using the Liberian community as its lens. Through memoir and collective storytelling, it shows what it means to build a life, raise a family, and hold on to hope while living in legal uncertainty. Rooted in Liberian journeys of war, displacement, and resettlement, the book speaks to a much wider reality faced by immigrant communities across America. It is ultimately a story about survival, dignity, and the fight to belong.
Lunch will be provided! Lunch will be available starting at 12:00, with the talk starting at 12:30 PM. Space is limited- secure your spot today!
