Congratulations to IHRC Summer Graduate Fellows

The Immigration History Research Center (IHRC) offers a number of summer fellowships to support graduate students working on international migration- and US immigration-related topics. UMN graduate students from any discipline are welcome to apply. This year, we received a large number of applications for summer fellowships from students representing a broad range of colleges and programs as well as research interests.

The four students who were chosen represent a four different disciplines, and their scholarship illustrates the breadth of migration research being conducted by UMN students. Congratulations to this year's fellows!

2026 IHRC Summer Graduate Fellows:

• Daniel Cueto-Villalobos	Daniel Cueto-Villalobos is a PhD student in Sociology with a research project entitled, "The Antiracist Church: Race, Faith, and Memory in Minnesota."
  Daniel Hernandez Linares	Daniel Hernandez Linares is a PhD student in Natural Resources Science and Management with a research project entitled, "Seeds of Migration: Hmong and Latinx Farming Communities, Agricultural Knowledge, and Community Formation in Minnesota."
  Francis K Nyamekeh	Francis K. Nyamekeh is a PhD student in Philosophy with a research project entitled, "Rethinking Economic Migration: A Conceptual Plea."
  Tahmina Sobat	Tahmina Sobat is a PhD student in Feminist Studies with a research project entitled, "Puzzling Complicity and Paradoxical Representation: Elite Afghan Women within Feminist Empire."
