IHRC and HRP Collecting Stories for the Minnesota Truth Council
Staff at the Immigration History Research Center and the Human Rights Program have been trained as story collectors for the MN Truth Council. The Truth Council, formally known as the “Governor's Council on Recording the Truth of Operation Metro Surge and Operation PARRIS” is an independent, non-partisan body that will create a historical record of survivor and witness experiences and produce a report with recommendations for legislative and policy reform.
The MN Truth Council is collecting stories from people with firsthand experiences of the surge. The aim is to document both the human rights violations resulting from the surge and how Minnesotans showed up for one another with compassion, courage, and resilience. If you would be willing to share what you experienced or witnessed with the MN Truth Council, you can contact the IHRC or the HRP to learn more about scheduling a story collection. Stories can be shared with attribution or shared anonymously and will be maintained on an encrypted server. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about the process.
