The Language Center is pleased to announce the third of three presentations from the finalists for the Director position. The topic is:

My vision for the Language Center at the University of Minnesota. How does research inform this vision? What is the role of the Language Center in the College of Liberal Arts and in the broader University community?

A Q&A session will follow the presentation, and there will be a reception for in-person attendees. If you cannot attend, you may request access to a recording of the presentation, which will be shared shortly after the event. 

Adeola Agoke holds a PhD in African Cultural Studies with a specialization in sociocultural and applied linguistics. She is a Teaching Faculty and Associate Director of the African Languages Program in the Department of African Cultural Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is currently working on a book manuscript, “Learners’ Linguistic Creativity: Implications for Language Learning and Pedagogical Practices,” which uses ethnography to examine the processes by which Yoruba language learners in southwestern Nigeria engage their multilingual repertoires for interactional practice in and out of classroom settings. She teaches methods courses in applied linguistics and other courses that explore the intersection of language and society. With an interest in bringing research into programs in language teaching and learning, Dr. Agoke currently curates learning resources in African languages to enhance contextualized experience of language learning.
