Spooky Season got you all jittery? Well, let us introduce you to some paws-itively adorable friends who can help you with that!

On October 30, 2025, the spooky skeletons at the Language Center held a Pet Away Worry & Stress (PAWS) event featuring some of the cutest animals at the university. The event hosted two dogs (Sonny Boy and Gus), one cat (Morris), one chicken (Henley), and another dog making a brief appearance, who (in addition to soaking up as many pets as they could) listened to guests read stories, tell jokes, and recite poems in their language(s) of study.

With fun, frivolity, and a little bit of candy to mark the occasion, the event was a swinging success and ran from 2:30 - 4:30 pm in the Jones Hall SpeakEasy Lounge & Event Space. We welcomed a wide range of student groups, classes, conversation groups, and individual guests, who were hopefully all able to pet away some Spooky Season stress!

The staff at the Language Center would like to thank all the staff who helped set up, manage, and clean up after the event, the handlers for bringing their animals, and all the guests for bringing the love. Now if only we could keep our furry friends here until finals season is over! (What’s the real Spooky Season, anyway?)
