Mapping prizes awarded to MGIS students and graduates in 2016

Congratulations to several of our current students and graduates who won awards for their impressive map contest submissions! We had three winners recognized at the 2016 Map Gallery Competition at the Esri User Conference. Mike Clementz (2016) took First Place in the Post-Secondary Student Map category for Air Operations Planning Map Series (pictured here); Carl Reim won Second Place in the Story Map category for Discovery; and, Kyle Wikstrom secured Third Place for 2012 Presidential Election Results. Their winning maps can be viewed on the 2016 Esri Map Gallery Results page.

Our students also captured several awards in the 2016 U-Spatial Mapping Prize competition.  Michael Clementz won the Overall Best Map ($1000) for Air Operations Planning Maps: Victoria Land; Grace Johnson won Best Use of Maps by a Graduate Student ($250) for It's all about the Journey; Rebecca Barney received Best Cartography by a Graduate Student ($250) for Oil Painting Renditions of Minneapolis and St. Paul; and, Carl Reim won Best Body of Work by a Graduate Student ($250) for Colorado and Discovery.
