Violinist/composer Mari Kimura is also the founder of the sensor-glove device MUGIC. This device can be used with Ableton Live, MaxMSP, and other music software to connect hand gestures and sound manipulations. The Spring course Advanced Creativity with Music Technology led by Dr. Sivan Cohen Elias is going to use that sensor in their May show.

In this Zoom talk and workshop, Dr. Kimura will talk about her creative and performance work with the sensors followed by a workshop on the technical aspects of working with the sensor. It is primarily for composition students and violin students are encouraged too, and everyone who is interested in learning more about this invention and its applications in music and technology is welcome to attend the Zoom presentation.
