The UMN New Music Ensemble is a student-led ensemble project at the University of Minnesota. The goal of this group is to provide students the opportunity to perform contemporary art music from the 20th and 21st centuries. The NME’s programming is, in one part, curated from performer interests, balanced against the practice of common styles and techniques found in the contemporary music canon. In the other part, the NME aims to program new works written by living composers, including our composition studios here at UMN and the established works from composers in the U.S. and beyond.
