Join the University Singers and Chamber Singers, conducted by Matthew Mehaffey and Brandon Berger, for a landmark evening of choral music that bridges the gap between historical restoration and modern technology.
The program features the United States premiere of Harold Darke’s Youth Rides Forth. Long hidden from the public ear, this work has been painstakingly restored by the English Heritage Music Series, and this performance marks its first-ever appearance on American soil.
The evening’s centerpiece is Zoltán Kodály’s monumental Missa Brevis. Featuring renowned organist Greg Zelek, the performance will utilize the Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ—a sophisticated digital system that mirrors the specific registrations and acoustics of the historic Northrop Organ. Collaborative pianist Tim Lovelace joins the ensembles for a program that spans the intimate to the grand.
Note: This performance of Missa Brevis serves as a preview for a special collaboration with Northrop Dance on January 30, 2027.
