Alumna Kathryn Yuill Wins Position with US Air Force Band of Mid-America

Kathryn Yuill (BM, 2015, percussion, student of Fernando Meza, Peter Kogan, and Phil Hey) recently won a position playing percussion and drum set with the US Air Force Band of Mid-America. 

Always striving to be a versatile and well-rounded musician, Kathryn Yuill is an active percussionist, performer, and educator in the Midwest. As an orchestral musician, she has appeared with many groups including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (IN), Terre Haute Symphony (IN), the Mankato Symphony Orchestra (MN) and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra (IN), and is a sought-after musician for chamber performances. yn had the pleasure of serving as principal timpanist for the Jacobs School of Music Philharmonic Orchestra, and has been featured as a soloist with the Jacobs School of Music Percussion Ensemble. She has performed alongside the Joffrey Ballet for The Rite of Spring, and VocalEssence for their PDQ Bach concert with Peter Shickele. In 2014, Yuill was fortunate to travel with the University of Minnesota Percussion Studio to Costa Rica and Panama, performing at the Centro National de la Música in San José, and as a part of the Alfredo San Malo International Music Festival in Panama City. 

As an educator, Yuill previously served as percussion director of East Ridge High School (Woodbury, MN), and was the percussion coach at the Lawrence University Academy of Music Band Camp. She has given clinics and master classes at a number of high schools and universities and was the percussion ensemble coach for the University of Minnesota Campus Bands. Yuill has also arranged drumline music for the "Pride of Minnesota" Marching Band, and the East Ridge High School Winter Drumline.
